In a recent game, my opponent used a tactic that I was not really familiar with. At setup, he put two OB-given concealment counters on top of a MMC, but he used 5/8" concealment counters instead of 1/2" counters. A12.12 doesn't really distinguish between 1/2" and 5/8" counters.

If the two 5/8" ? counters claim to be a concealed vehicle, is the MMC still concealed?

If one has a vehicle and an MMC in the same Location at setup, does it require one or two OB-given ? to make them both concealed? For a Gun, it seems obvious that only one ? would be required, but that's because the Gun would be possessed by the MMC.

Can you always use a 5/8" concealment counter for infantry? Are there any circumstances where you may not? It seems like a concealed infantry unit could use either size counter without any game difference. The ? just shows that the unit is concealed. There aren't different kinds of concealed (EXC: HIP) for infantry, so any old counter should do.

Right?

Yes, it is still concealed. Most people use them to simulate a concealed Gun & Crew, or an AFV with Infantry in the same location.

Unless simulating a dummy gun or vehicle, it would be dumb, imo, but allowed.

That seems like something you could do until you went to move and then the 1/2" MMC would get it's own ? counter.

You will note A12.1 does not talk about the size of the ?, so what applies here applies to both forms.

This holds true on reaching A12.11...then the difference for a 5/8" is noted at the point where it says "A 5/8" Dummy stack...

So to answer your questions
1) yes the MMC is concealed
2) requires 1 x 5/8"...atop the vehicle if the MMC sets up under the vehicle and moves away, it gets a free 1/2" when it leaves if otherwise eligible. If the vehicle drives off, then MMC can also gain free 1/2" ? (One for gun as you note)
3) They are interchangeable. If you don't have any vehicles or guns in your OB there is no real use per se, but if you do have some/both and are granted say 6 x ?, you can swap out 2x say, and create a fake vehicle, beneath which (assuming this fake will be in concealment terrain, you can place a MMC and it is concealed as per 2 above.

You are correct there are not two different forms of "?". It is just the nature of loss / gain is different depending on unit and terrain.
