Hi

We playing Red Barricades and have units in adjacent cellar locations and adjacent building locations.

The RB rules section o6.4 states that demo charge in a cellar can only be thrown to adjacent location so does this mean that DC's cannot be placed into adjacent cellar locations, if so does this also apply to other building locations as well, e.g. units in a building adjacent on ground floor or higher level can only throw DC's not place them.

Regards

Simon

Youcan only throw them to adjacent locations. Ypou can place them as normal.

"A DC in a RF Cellar may be Thrown only into an ADJACENT Location "

Vinnie has it correct. I'm not sure if the number of GSF total posts accredited to Simon62's quick view is indicative of his experience with ASL or not but it is good to note that Vinnie used "ADJACENT" and not just "adjacent" in his response. On-line we sometimes don't pay particular attention to what/how we type a post but in ASL'ese it is a matter of some consequence.

Can a demo charge be placed to breach a higher or lower fortified building location (obviously with a stairwell present)?

I would think not unless it could be construed that the floor/ceiling somehow constitutes a hexside (B23.9221).

I asked this same question last week (our group is prepping to play ASL 4 The Commissar's House, where there is a fortified building with two stairwells) and got this response from a local player: "A DC can NOT be used to breach stairs like a hexside. Your choices are to break/reduce the guys upstairs or use the other staircase to get upstairs and breach that hexside."

O6.11 -- A RB Cellar Location can be Breached (B23.9221) only across a hexside that is common to an ADJACENT RB Cellar Location.

The location above the cellar cannot breach the stairs down to the cellar.

That was certainly my estimation of the correct answer. Too bad though as that's exactly how the German Assault groups managed to breach the defenses of the Kommissar's Haus.
