Hi all,
If I understand the end of that note, it is allowed to use the FW counters with 81 mm (rather than 76 mm) in WW2 scenarios, after the Journal 7 article.
I presume that such is only possible if both players agree with it ?
I personally am all for using the 81 mm counter version, as it seems to be the result of progress in analysing the actual calibre of the 3-in mortar.

Some time ago I wrote a house rule to cover the community's realization of the actual caliber of that weapon:

The OML 3-inch Mortar (British Ordnance Note 2) is of 81mm, not 76mm, caliber and therefore the 16FP column of the IFT applies. However, until July 1941, British battalion mortar OBA HE concentration still uses the 12FP column to reflect the fact that the battalion mortar platoon possessed only two tubes until the size of its battery was increased to six in the revised War Establishment Tables of that June.

YMMV. Whatever two consenting adults agree to do in the privacy of their own homes.
