Hi,

need some guidance - we are playing Red Barricades and there are numerous debris hexes on the map some debris has roads as well and some don't.

We are not clear on the way to play trail breaks through these hexes and the effect the trail breaks have on subsequent movement.

We have the following questions:

  1. does an fully tracked AFV created a trail break if it moves through a debris hex (passing it's bog check) - we think yes?
  2. Do fully tracked AFV that subsequent move through the debris hex use the cost of the other terrain in the hex (open ground or road) without having to take a bog check. The debris rules point to B3.43 but this only indicates that this applies to roads not open ground so not sure.
  3. Can a halftrack use the trail break through debris created by a fully tracked AFV
  4. does any of the above change if the trail break is created by a clearance attempt rather than a fully tracked vehicle moving through the hex
Regards

Simon

  1. There is no provision in the rules that I can see that allows vehicles to create a TB through rubble. The only way to create one appears to be by clearance (O1.5)
  2. If there is a TB through debris, it is treated in the same way as fallen rubble ie the movement cost is what it would be without the debris- B24.71
  3. NA since a fully tracked AFV doesn't create a TB. If the TB was created by clearance, all movement costs become COT.
  4. NA

As a further clarification to Doug's post for #4; Per B13.421 "A TB cannot be created or used by non-fully tracked vehicles."

I think that this only applies to TBs created by fully tracked vehicular movement through a woods hex. Movement through rubble and debris appears to be covered by B24.71-

"...A cleared rubble hex is marked with a TB counter across any two hexsides of the rubble hex of the clearing player's choice. A TB counter reduces movement costs into that hex through the TB hexside to its pre-rubble status cost..."
