Certainly worth the attention, especially for anyone interested in 'mapping'.

Look forward to more!

Looks really good Boonie - I've just left a comment on your blog regarding rivers and hexes.

Way to go and good luck with place names :D

I've been experimenting with unit moding today while thinking about my future VN scenarios, especially with having specific sets of icon for individual formations, customizing them with shoulder patches. The main drawback of course is that at higher screen res they would be almost indistinguishable, the possible area to add one on a counter is hardly larger than 10x10 pixel.

(From l to r: 1st Cav, 4th Inf, 9th Inf, NVA HQ, VC HQ, ARVN HQ)

Any other suggestions of possible unit mods?

I've been experiencing with alternate graphics while filling the map, to give it a more "Vietnam" look, specifically modifying the hills and mountains so they blend more naturally as well as altering the cropland and hedgerow tiles to make them look like rice paddies viewed from the air. It works well with the classic ACOW graphics but less so with the new ones. The TOAW graphics are a complex alchemy and modifying just one element can change a map aspect drastically

here's a preview of the Da Nang and Phu Loc areas:

The map looks really really nice! Go on! I use some alternate road graphics, just don't know from which mod they were. Look at the attachment and if you like them PM me your e-mail.

Thanks for the clue Stefan, I tried that road graphic already (although like you I can't recall where I got it from) but unfortunately it does not turn out nice with my map :(

Hehe hopefully it will, but in the meantime I hope to have the first scenario ready for testing in a month or so, maybe less. It will cover the period March-July 1965 which didn't see much combat so it will give me the opportunity to experiment with all the ideas I have and see if they work or not.

Just wanted to bump this one as it looks so promising.

So, what's the state of your work, Boonie?
