So I m in the process of getting ready to bring in a new computer and am in the process of copying over my user folder from my old machine.

I realize that I probably do not need to copy the VASSAL tiles folder as it will get created anew when I install VASSAL on the new machine, but I could not help but notice the size of this folder. 5+ GB.

Now I have loaded up a number of different VASSAL games, and I realize that this adds to this folder size.

The question I have is how much of this is due to implementing the VASL LOS engine?

None. That's VASSAL chopping up images to lower the memory footprint, IIRC. When you first open a module you'll see that tiling dialog and each time you open a map, it is tiling it up in the background.

(edit) You can validate this by opening a non VASL module and noting that the tiles folder is still created for the content of that module.
