Yup, watched it with my 16 year old. He's really into it. The deer scene freaked him out.

I'm really getting tired of that blond and her whining. Give her the gun and let her put it in her mouth or feed her to the dead. I dont care any more.

She needs to get busy livin' or get busy dyin' that is for sure. I liked the group dynamic in a survival situation aspect. You better get your group sorted out or you are in a world of hurt.

Hello!

Many people I know watch it. Everyone asks me if I watch it and I say the same things "I am not into Zombie stories". For the most part they say the same thing to me, "neither am I its not really a zombie story, its a story with zombies in it".

I bought the big assed trade of the first 49 issues of the comic, but have not started it yet. If that gets me hooked, I will find season one and check it out.

Peace

Roger

I watched it with my nearly 14 year old (next month). Not bad, will have to catch up on the first season. The best part was when I went to the kitchen for some chips, came back and scared the absolute crap out of him. Laughed for 20 minutes!

I liked it a lot. I read some stuff on TV w/o Pity and Salon, both of which made me think I would be underwhelmed with the episode and I really enjoyed it. My wife doesn't like zombie stuff or gore but she likes this show a lot. She was a bit underwhelmed and we talked about it and I reminded her that she's been looking forward to seeing this for 10 months and her expectations were pretty high. We haven't done a second viewing yet but that will happen.

i like it that they are moving forward with bringing more survivors into the mix with what will happen following one of the principal characters getting shot. I like it that they deviate a bit from the comics but I am wondering how parallel this part of the story is going to be with the comic.

You're either going to like the show or now, each season is going to be more of the same. This stuff is right up my alley so I am in for the haul. My biggest complaint is that they seem to want to have one gratuitously violent/gross scene per episode and quite honestly I don't need that. The dynamics of living in the aftermath of society shutting down is fine with me, the zombies are a plus but I don't need the viscera to enjoy the show.

Re: posters talking about letting Andrea off herself, that's part of what they show is trying to illustrate (imo), some people are going to rise to the occasion and some people are going to be border line basket cases. When 95% of the population is wiped out are the basket cases disposable?

Yes.

When you're a whiney little b!tch you get a free pass during the first season because you're a hot blond. Keep it up and you get tied to a tree during some second season episode allowing everyone else to escape while the z's thankfully rip out your tongue first.

The first season was good since it really clung to the "Dawn of the Dead" theme where that element is always in play. If that element merely becomes background and future episodes/seasons become about the characters then you know they are out of ideas and it has become a soap opera.

I watched it for awhile.. but the pistols with 16 inch barrels and high power rifles.. that are always short on ammo is a joke.. all they need is a 22 long rifle semi auto and 5,000 rounds in a coat pocket. less noise to attract other zombies.. and just as effective.. I keep hopeing these cowboys will run into a real zombie killer.

It's a character driven show, not so much a story driven show.

And the brunette is waaaaaaayyyy hotter.

I posted my views here, preparedness wise:

http://couchpotatoprepper.blogspot.com/2011/10/preparedness-review-of-walking-dead.html

To add to what I said there:

They need to get serious about getting quiet and not attracting attention. I actually liked the fact that they traded guns for blades. There are too many walkers for them to handle with their current armory and manpower. They need to get some more arms.

Last season, people criticized them for not picking up M4s outside CDC. I thought, "why would I want an M4 that has been sitting out in the weather uncleaned and cared for and use it to defend my life?"

Dude,

Will a NO, make you "dis-own" me?

I preferred to SLEEP after 10 hours of driving.....

Also, "Granny Porn" was MORE entertaining......
Hey! Granny porn is the only porn I get anymore.

I ditched my television years ago. I still watch DVDs on my laptop if they're good.

I checked out the first season DVD from the library a few months ago and watched the entire thing over two days.

I liked it a lot. It's got Zombies! Sure it gets a little slow at times, and the characters can drive you nuts sometimes, but over all it's excellent. It seems very realistic. I like the gore.

Over on the Zombie Squad forum there was a lot of discussion over what the scientist whispered in Rick's ear in the last episode of the first season. Most people seemed to think he told Rick his wife was pregnant. But I thought he told him that everyone has the virus and will convert when they die...which has huge implications for all the characters and the future of humanity.

Sorry I won't be able to talk about this new season until next summer! :D
