I have had trouble with other VASL scenarios setups if an overlay spanned more than one board - it always got clipped at the board edge.

I usually set up the boards, save, then come back in to do the overlays and any other transformations, etc.

So perhaps my woes were also caused by this "post setup bug". Next time, I will add the overlays as I am adding the boards (before saving - and see if that makes difference)

Did it work now setting up boards and overlays together in your SP191 scenario?

Well, I was given the scenario card for SP191 by the tournament director for preparation as it was included in one of the rounds of the ASL Open.

Since the tourney is over, I destroyed the PDF, so I have no idea what the specific boards, overlays, & coordinates were.

But I put together a test case using board 01 and 04 and woods overlay #5

I added it to the two board set before saving and it turned out fine (overlay spanning across the board seam). I then added it after saving and it turned out fine too.

Maybe it is an issue with the specific combination of boards and that overlay (whatever it may be) for SP191

Maybe someone who owns the card can try it out and see if they can be successful (or replicate the problem in some fashion)

Per my illustration in the other thread, there definitely was a problem

As you'd know if you subscribed to the RSS Feed for the Latest Changes to the new Bazaar, I've added the FB quad-maps and the Primosole Bridge map.

Today's change:
Rather than import everything from the existing VASL Dev Roadmap (basically our ToDo list for fixing problems and implementing suggestions) into the VASL Problems/Suggestions/ToDo Page, I figured I might as well just put a link to the Roadmap on the ToDo Page and be done with it. That'll keep me from having to futz with multiple versions of the same document and give people an idea of what's to come in the next VASL version. It'll also give them a warm fuzzy that we do indeed track everything that's reported, whether we're working on a fix or not.

The Comments section of that page can be used for new problem reports. Hopefully this will make the old VASL ToDo List obsolete.

Check it out and lemme know what you think.

Jay-zus, Tom! No wonder you disappeared for awhile. Will check out PBr map. I wasn't aware there was a problem with it.

To kick off the new year right, overlay FT07 from the new LFT #13 has been VASLized. See this post for details.

While doing the LFT overlays, I realized that overlay FT5 was actually better implemented as a BSO for board 9 since it basically replaces the 9DD3 castle with a pillbox-like thing. Used the opportunity to update bd9 by removing its LOS (.map) file and adding a LightWoods overlay for compatibility with future versions. Get bd 9 v5.4 here

Looking at the remaining LFT overlays, I saw that the two overlays used to modify bd 15 in scenario FT62 (New Model Army) are best implemented as Scenario Special Overlays, so I added them as an SSO to bd 15 and updated that board to v5.2. Download it here. Took the opportunity to add a Light Woods overlay and remove the .map file (used for LOS, no longer needed).

I believe we're all set for the existing LFT overlays. I've updated the FT overlays file to v3.0. Download it here. It contains:
* FT01: a 7-hex overlay featuring a single-hex stone building on a hill, appeared in LFT#5
* FT02: the Alcazar overlay for bd 45, which appeared in LFT #6
* FT03: a 7-hex collection of single-hex wooden buildings, which appeared in LFT#7. There are also some 1-5 hex generic shellhole overlays which I do not believe are part of FT03; I did not include them here
* FT07: the half-board overlay that appeared in LFT#13.

Of the other overlays which have appeared in LFT:
* FT04: illegible to me; looks like a 2-hex blotch of Level 4 Open Ground. If so, this is doable with a Draggable Overlay.
* FT05 appeared in FTC#1. This was better implemented as a BSO for bd9 since it replaces the 9DD3 bldg with a big pillbox

Thanks as always Tom but small oddity -- when I loaded the new bd09 it doesn't report the board version number?

I just got LFT 9 and there is an overlay with two overlays on it, do you have that one created as well?

They are not not listed on what they are from first glance.

Um. Works for me, with VASL 5.9.2. Should show bd09 v5.4.
Yeah, seems to work fine on my home PC, but not on my work PC. Maybe a difference in Java versions? The installations are identical otherwise, so far as I know. Not a biggie. I'll do some experimenting.

EDIT: Well, it wasn't the Java version. The home PC is Win7-64, the work PC is Win7-32. Maybe that's it? It's not just the new boards, btw, the work PC won't display the version no. of any of the boards.

Just a small suggestion -- maybe include a small README with the LFT ovr zip file, with descriptions similar to what you've written above?

Hello Tom,
setting up a few games lately some issues;

LOS for height. Will it ever be possible to include this as an extension?

Notes. Delayed. Once I fill these in (for boresight, AFV leader, etc) I cant delete or edit. Any pointers on that?

Thanks for your time.

The Los calculator has been dropped from the latest VASL version, too many errors.

I have had problems with the hidden notes aspect. Never got it to work at all.

Hi Vinnie,
cant ask for too much - Im still absolutely happy with Vasl - it was revolutionary...so understood about the LOS. Ive looked at the LOS rules because I have a spotter on a Lv2 (or L3 if I can move him) and he can see a heck of a lot. The blind hex rules are not too complicated one just needs to be 1 level higher and any higher is a bonus that deducts 1 blind spot to a minimum of 1. (just wrote that down to remind myself)
The hidden notes aspect - I am going to use delayed for boresight but one thing to bear in mind - you must make a note of what hex/es it or they are because when you call up the hidden/delated dialogue box generally, by dint of Murphy's law it covers up the hex you are trying to record - so you guess - and if like me you are wrong - you are stuck with that data for the whole game so I write mine down first.

For VASL bore sighting, I simply use a red small acquisition counter (flipped to -2) and then set the label to identify which weapon it refers to. This then goes into the actual bore sighted hex, and then the counter property is set to HIP. I then can see where it is (so I don't forget) and simply unHIP it when I want to use it)

For all other "notes" which need to be documented, I use the draggable label overlays to type the information, position it on the periphery of the playing surface, then HIP the labels. To reveal the information to your opponent, just unHIP the specific label
