What stinks is Donaghy, like Canseco however distasteful that it may be, is probably more on target than anyone wants to realise. There's a local sports guy who has picked the winner of most of the playoff games based on the officiating crew...
As a Spurs' fan, I can guarantee you who will win one of their games based on the ref. crew.

...KG looked great. As did Rondo. More Nate means less Rondo though & I'm not sure that's a good solution for the Celtics unfortunately. 'Course if Ray-Ray goes 0-fer again, it's tough to argue against playing the 2 points together on occasion - Rondo's is freakishly long for a relatively short guy & could do OK on Kobe I guess...
Play Nate and Rondo as a tandem and watch the Lakers panic.

'Course I'm mostly stunned that Coach Fezz let a girl on his team score 20 from the field on 55 shots. That's an 18% FG% presuming she didn't hit a 3 & only took 55 shots. Guess I should compliment your conditioning program - impressive that she had the stamina to shoot the rock that much! I can only assume you only had 5 that night and thus you couldn't bench her for gunning constantly. I'd likely have been tempted to play short handed awhile to prove a point. :devious:
Her stats were: 28 pts on 8 of 55 from the floor with 2-3s/ 10 of 18 free throws. I had 6 girls that night and she knew I had to manage the rotation around the three girls who were not feeling well/just back off an injury. The couple of "point benchings" got submarined by girls begging out (time outs didn't seem to help). It didn't help that this game occurred during the swine flu episode in town.

Ultimately, her minutes got reduced drastically and the rest of the girls got more assertive themselves on offense. what goes around...

Be interesting to try. I wonder if it would work. My Dad & I were counting the Nate passes when he finally got a chance to play in game 2 & were expressing surprised at each one. He's typically a black hole (dwarf star?) offensively - not sure how that would mesh w/Rondo although as long as Nate's the 2 on O, it might be fine. It's not like Jesus Shuttlesworth is known as a passer at the 2...

Wow. It's hard for me to fathom someone THAT selfish on the floor. In a girls game sans shot clock, I'd have been relatively impressed that you got 64 possessions in a 40 minute game. That one girl USED 64 possessions (presuming no TO's of course) is mind boggling. Good to hear her touches went down after that due to her teammates finding themselves & getting healthy. That's a stat line that would make World B Free proud. Or maybe I should use JellyBean Bryant as a better example?

Oh. My. God. You have *NO* idea how selfish this kid is. (a lot of her shots ended up being attempted put-backs of her own missed layups, two or three at a time) She actually killed 2 teams this past year through little "passing cliques" meant to exclude certain other players (to be read as : kids better than her, chief amongst them my youngest) based solely on scoring. If any one kid, even a clique member was ahead of her in the points column, she'd go out of her way to make sure they didn't see the ball. The team she played on with my daughter she ended up being the high scorer for the season, with 51 more points than my daughter over one more game (I held my daughter out of a game against the last place team due to a Black eye <received by that girl in practice>, two loose teeth still in the danger zone of possible loss <elbow during a game v a freshmen team> both elbows black and blue to match the black, blue and swollen knees...she looked like a sailor after a sodden weekend liberty!).

However...she took 200!! more shots than my daughter plus 48 more FT attempts (I kept the books/stats suite for that team). She's no more than a 23% shooter from the field (9% from 3-pt land over 98 attempts...). She improved from the FT line to hit 41% (from 22% last year), but her selfish pursuit for glory took a 21-3 team (league champs/won 2 tournies) to 9-9 this year and broke my daughter's spirit.

On the team I coached, I never started her to allow a couple of the other girls to get into the flow of the game and gain the confidence on the offensive end, particularly. In that, I was pretty successful as three girls in particular played better for me than they did for the other two teams they played on. Seeing kids get that spark of confidence is always its own reward, I think.

I do know, though, that all the girls-and many of their parents-in the high school can't stand this kid and aren't looking forward to her playing on the team. She may bump a kid off the JV team because, frankly, they're out of their league. She is aggressive (and not in a smart way all too often) and decent moving towards the basket, but she wants to be the point guard (too selfish, commits WAAY too many turnovers) and 3-pt specialist...she has no idea how b!tchy the girls in HS are...I imagine a rude awakening in her future...

She was so bad, I had parents and the boy's team counting her shots from the stands then letting me know afterwards. Parents would scream "Pass the Ball!!!" all game (so did I, but in the end, I just pulled her out) sometimes fairly, sometimes not; she rent the rumour of the 'purity' of girl's basketball something fierce.

Sounds like the Celtics could use her for game 4 :p
