As the path was so close, took the day off and found a little out-of-the-way spot just north of Jefferson City, MO.
I have to say, it was simply amazing. When totality hit, Venus popped into view. I didn't see any stars, but maybe that was because the sun was so high in the sky. The temps dropped about 10 degrees almost instantly, the crickets and cicadas began chirping and everything got eerily calm for the 2.5 minutes of totality.
If they weren't too large, I'd load a couple of pictures my son took with just a $150 digital camera and a sun filter torn out of one of the viewing glasses.
