Has anybody tried the boxed set of rules called The Complete Brigadier? It's probably out of print now, but I managed to find a copy.

Covers the black powder era (1680-1880), and it looks like it probably does a very good job of it. I haven't playtested the rules yet, mainly because it's a written-order/simultaneous-movement game and that doesn't lend itself to solo play.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced it.

I have only heard of the rules mentioned in an article written a few years back. The article was focusing on the issue of orders writing and that taking out the often tedious issue of determining initiative.

I used to have a copy of The Complete Brigadier when I was in High School. I liked the system. I also owned Covered With Glory, a set of Napoleonic rules, but preferred Brigadier. It covers a wider time period and you can personalize your units training and leadership qualities rather than have ratings that are fixed based on nationality. Good system - where'd you find it?
