In response to repeated requests over on BoardGameGeek, I've been working on a series of tutorial articles to assist ASLSK players in learning the ASLSK rules. The ones that I have completed so far have proven to be very popular... even to the point of convincing people who have never seen or played ASL/ASLSK to run out and buy a Starter Kit to try it out! Whether I'll have similar success in explaining the armor rules remains to be seen.

Of course, I fully agree that the best way to learn ASL/ASLSK is to have an experienced player teach you, but this is not always practical. And even if a mentor is available, the tutorials will still allow a new player to study the rules and learn on his own time, and at his own pace, thus hopefully making the mentor's job easier.

I thought it might be appropriate to post links to these tutorials in this new ASLSK sub-forum.

I do have the ability to edit these articles, even though they have been posted for some time now, so I would be grateful for any notices of errors or suggestions for improvements.

Jay,

I have red all your great ASLSK tutorials even though I'm pass them at this point - trying to understand the tank rules now. I'm very much looking forward to your tutorial about Tanks! For all of us ASLSK players I would like to say BIG Thank You for all your hard work on writing those tutorials and offering your support. We all really appreciate your time and dedication for teaching us about ASL. You writing is very clear and easy to understand...I hope to see reading your articles in future ASL Journal issues!!!

If you can find it, I recommend reading Bruce Bakken's excellent article 'Panzer Gegen Panzer'. I'm not versed in the differences between regular ASL armor rules and SK armor rules but I'm sure they're similar enough that Bruce's article would be a big help. It's about as comprehensive as any ASL article out there and would make a decent armor tutorial.

I have the "Panzer Gegen Panzer" and also "Stop and Go Traffic" which as another great article written by Mr. Ole Boe both are great even for ASLSK players. I started with ASLSK but I'm slowly adding stuff from full ASL as times go on.
