Unfortunately the updated version of this scenario is still pro-german, so large was the initial level of imbalance.
Yes the inherent PF ability of the Germans does seem to add to the imbalance. All the more reason for the Russians to not be overly cautious. Speed will be our armor!

Yes, it got revised somewhere.
In BV3 it came as ASL Scenario 134 but IMHO not enough was done to it to make it a good competitive scenario, fun nonetheless but not one I would entertain for a tournament selection. I believe it's still coming out at something like 78+% pro-German according to ROAR but I haven't checked in a while & there weren't that many recorded playings of this offering.

Found a couple more.

The Agony of Doom
June 16th, 1985
Axis = Fish
Allies = Darryl
Begun 1330 hours
Ended 1450 hours
Fish wins

June 16th, 1985
Axis = Fish
Allies = Darryl
Begun 1450 hours
Ended 1959 hours
Darryl wins
Note says many interruptions

My note taking back then didn't always include the turn the scenario ended.

It seems as if a lot of scenarios are chosen to play because they are tournament sized scenarios. Most likely because of the time constraints on players these days. Or stamina?🤔😉😉

Sometimes you should play a scenario that is crazy unbalanced, take the side the balance doesn't favor and see what you can do. Wtf are you playing the game for if not to challenge yourself? If you lose you can either cop out and say nobody wins as the whoever or say at least I had the cojones to try as the whoever. Set it up again, I'll take the whoever again and give you the balance!!

You may lose again but gain major elan points and be smiled upon by the Grofaz.
Captain Bacchus and I agree this is excellent advice!🤪

It really is. You will learn much more and get more out of the game by challenging yourself with " unbalanced " situations. Just go for it!😊

This scenario has been around since the 1979 Series 100 pack / Cross of Iron .. and still isn't balanced, ha!
But one looks at the scenario card and wants to play it, it has appeal no doubt.

I agree this is a lot of fun; and also one of the least balanced AH/MMP scenarios ever. The 9-2/PSK combo is like a lethal lightsaber chopping through Russian armor. Still pretty darn fun ASL though and worth the time.

We liked this one a lot. As SteveE7 said it has appeal. It certainly appealed to us.

Most likely to get mauled as the Russians. Who cares?

Leap, fellow soldiers, or do you wish to betray your eagle to the enemy! I, for.....Sorry, wrong thread. 🤪

I’ve played it several times and found it very difficult as the Russians. However, it was great fun. I’ve also played a variant from On All Fronts titled Hells Fury at Munchburg. This variant adds another map and a few more units.

I did play it, more than once and won as the Russian last time.
Bob, that is impressive, I tried twice as the Russians and had burning wrecks and broken Russians troops littering the battlefield at the end of both, felt a little rushed trying for the VCs. Nice scenario on first look but after playing, not as much, and there are so many eastern front scenarios to try that are better balanced, Vic.

One should also make the effort to show a little class in victory.
Both qualities are admirable and ones that players who value good sportsmanship seem to display and all players should embrace.

Which of the two is the harder to do I wonder?

I really liked this scenario and if I still played would take the Russians without hesitation.

Think about playing this as the Russians against the likes of Fortenberry, Pleva, McGrath, Nixon or whoever your choice is for a tough player. What a challenge!! 🥰
What a great AAR that would be. Your mileage probably does vary but such a clash where the heavily underdog player willingly takes the heavily underdog side has much more appeal to me than a balanced scenario played by two very good players. Especially if the underdog is the attacker.
