Greetings all,

It breaks my heart to write this, but TCASL events will be online only for the foreseeable future. Covid test positivity rates are up to almost 10.5% statewide (contrast the second week of July when it was 1.6%), Omicron is definitely in Minnesota, and face to face ASL is inherently a high-risk activity. I cannot in clean conscience suggest that we gather in person, indoors, for an extended period of time in such a climate.

My concern isn't with any member of our group. I believe that we're all approaching this in as responsible a manner as our respective situations allow. However, I absolutely don't trust the possibly unvaccinated, definitely unmasked people at the next table over. In our present environment there are just too many throws of the dice, and we only have to get unlucky once.

I wish you all a happy holiday season, and hope to see you soon, in saner times.

Tough call, but the right call. Warmest wishes to all ASLers in the Twin Towns. The next time I return I'll be sure to sit down with you for a match.
Be well! Merry Christmas!

Thanks, Geoff. I concur, at least until we get a little more info on omicron.

Yup Geoff, it feels like forever since Curtis & I have gotten over there for some good FtF action as I think the last time it was you and Mark came to Menomonie for our little Me-no-monie mini. Certainly looking forward to a time when we can all get together again some time. Even Curtis & I have only gotten together a couple of dozen times this past year.

One thing my former (before I retired and moved) circle of ASL opponents is we get together on Zoom once a week. I still keep hammering away at getting them onto VASL, and they may even be getting close. The four of us got together for a scenario a couple of times once we all got the "Jab"....but these days in the age of Omercron, even that is hovering around the acceptable level of risk.
