Taking possession of a DC in movement phase.

Can a unit take possession of a DC carried by a unit that has been broken in order to use it against an adjacent target in the advance fire phase?

It would be nice! ...but no. Only Good Order units may transfer weapons during the MPh, and there is no way to transfer/recover weapons during the AFPh (except a SMC immediately recovering from an eliminated unit).

Also, only a SMC can ever recover SWs from a broken unit (as per A4.44):

Only a SMC can Recover a SW/Gun possessed by a friendly broken unit, and does this by rolling a Recovery Final dr of < 6 (Δ) in its RPh/MPh without need of MF expenditure;​

Finally, it could be that the broken unit possesses more than its IPC in SW. In this case, it could drop the excess DC in order to rout, but this wouldn't happen until the RPh.

Thank you, I was hoping my poor Tommy squad that broke when trying to place the DC could hand it to the next squad that entered the hex (and survived the SFF) so that they could blast the fortified building containing two German squads. But alas it is not to be...
