T34M41 and OT34

Given these are basically the same vehicle, why is one low ground pressure and the other not?

A guess only. Perhaps the extra weight of FT fuel or the sluggishness of the vehicle once a portion of it FT fuel was used may be a factor. 2nd guess (about as good as the rest), they goofed up.:whistle:

According to the Russian vehicle listing chart, the T-34M40 weighed 26.5 tons (guessing US ton) while the OT-34 weighs 29.5 tons. That's around an 11% increase, probably with the same engine. That might explain it.

edit: quick research suggests that most OT-34s were based on the T-34M41, which weighed 28.5 tons.
