Could someone explain the mechanics of Street Fighting vs a Halftrack carrying a squad as a passenger? Is it possible for the squad passenger to potentially eliminate the given squad who is attempting Street Fighting prior to its attack on the halftrack? Can the passenger get engaged at all during 'Street Fighting' situation?

I can't answer all your questions because no rule book handy. However, keep in mind that all cc vs. a vehicle is sequential, and the non-vehicle side gets to go first. Thus the squad attempting street fighting would get to go first. Also, if this is streetfighting during the movement phase, rather than the close combat phase, then the vehicle side would not even get a chance to fight back.

Not unless it is the CCPh and the halftrack acheives an ambush, which is rare. Assuming that it does not, then there is no way the Passengers can attack before the enemy can. Note that CE passengers can help the defense against CC attacks as they are escorting personel.

The passenger of a halftrack cannot be attacked seperatly from that halftrack, but it may attack normally itself.

Thanks guys. That's pretty much how I understood the rules. Now having said that I guess I was having an issue w\ the fact that if my Halftrack w\ Passenger was moving thru a hex w\ wire the 'Street Fighting' squad would need to remain in the wire hex after resolution. Seems this would leave ample opportunity for the Halftrack to respond (albeit during the movement phase) to the threat.

And w\ the rules kinda in mixed locations (e.g. Infantry and other Basic Game Rules && in the Vehicles section) I was concerned I was missing something here.

Well, now that the DEFENDER is hung up on wire (what a strange thing to do) you could use BFF to give them a pretty decent shot.

Strange it may be but it was an example outlined in the Rulebook. Based upon this example I was curious as to what options the Halftrack and passengers may have in these types of situations. BFF it is then!

I wonder if anyone has ever done something like that? Maybe at the end game where you are trying to prevent an exit VC. . .
