Special Operations Issue #11 now available on the MMP Website. $38.00 plus shipping and handling

Special Ops #11 has six articles, two ASL scenarios (O21, O22) and two ASLSK scenarios (S100, S101), The magazine also features the game Gettysburg.

Featured in-depth articles cover The Third Winter and Strike - Counter Strike. There are also an article on the upcoming Valley of Tears, a new scenario for The Third Winter, Curt Schilling's advice for being a better ASL player, and more

Gettysburg is a quick playing game based on the Napoleonic 20 series of games. It includes a 22" x34" map, 40 1" counters, and 72 5/8" counters.

looks like another MMP purchase for me

Is there any other choice in regards to MMP ASL? :)

Call me a heretic, but I'm starting to reach the point where maybe $38 plus shipping and handling might not be worth it for 2 ASL scenarios and 1 article. Especially considering the tons of stuff I own that I've yet to do more than glance at.

I am a big ACW buff, so this spec ops is a must buy for me.

I would love an Operations Scenario Pack- at some point.
I don’t play any other MMP games. Or anything beyond Monopoly, Scatigories, or the like with my family.
So, dropping that much, for so little ASL or SK content, is just too much $.

I hear you, I am weighing my options as well, wish we could buy pdf files of just the ASL content...

,
If they ever get stuck with inventory because players don't want to fork out $40+ for 2 ASL scenarios, they might rethink this concept. Putting them all together in a scenario pack ever 5 years or so as an option for people who just want the ASL might be one solution.

Interesting, with the release of
S. Ops #11 comes a scenario involving Germans/Hungarians versus Russians Beyond Their Capabilities, Filianivka, Russia 1941-07-13.
Vae Victis #169 just released has a scenario A La Hussarde..., covering the same action: Filianivka, Russia 1941-07-13.

That's a shame, as so many of their games. especially The Gamers products, are outstanding

My educated guess as to the common depicted action is that both scenario designers would have consulted a 2021 Osprey title on Hungarian operations on the Eastern Front in 1941. Osprey books are often used by scenario designers because they offer under a single cover a description of the action, the units involved and some depiction of the terrain.
Hungarian Soldier versus Soviet Soldier. Eastern Front 1941. Peter Mujzer and Steve Noon

I understand similar scenarios depicting the same action. I thought this was interesting as they were published both this month from two different publishers.
