Howdy-

Any thoughts on how the scenarios play out? Map does look very basic from what I have seen, so my concern is mainly are the scenarios fun and balanced or are they boring?

thanks

they are but there is some concern regarding the Russian placed DC on the bridge which makes the German VC problematic

I've played so far two out of three scenarios. I found the initial scenario Frank’s Tanks (ASL-O23) to be tough for the Germans, but the second scenario Quickly Toward the Bridge! (ASL-O24) was easier for the Germans to win in my case as the Soviets did not have a chance to try to blow up the bridge. The third scenario, Key to the Rescue (ASL-O25) is essentially the whole engagement played in a single scenario but with the opportunity of choosing units and weapons from an OB table. So if you play the two partial scenarios initially, you can adjust your OB for the third scenario based on your observations.
Overall, I found this to be a good ASL product that should have been included in the latest ASL Journal instead of being put into a Spec Ops magazine.

Is a Lysyanka map available in VASL? I assume there was a play-test version.

Also wondering when MMP will okay its release to VASL. A little pissed off that I spent $44 for the magazine (now since recycled) to get the three scenarios that I still haven’t played.

I didn't even know this existed TBH. But I'm not in the market for any more Non-ASL boardgaming stuff so it looks like this will pass unnoticed in my ASL world. Pus philosophically I have a minor point of objection regarding what I see as subsidising the rest of the magazine based on the ASLer proclivity to buy anything with ASL on it.

I did call MMP about getting just the map and scenarios but that was pretty much a no go. Maybe one day MMP will put the map and scenarios in the wargamer vault in pdf and that way I could buy it, wish it was sooner then later ah well will just have to wait.

Yeah. I’m planning on getting the Operations Magazine scenario pack from Wargamer Vault later this year. Much better than paying for all those magazines that I don’t want. I’m glad MMP does that.

I don't think we will see it on the Wargamer Vault until the hard copies are sold out. I think that is what MMP have done up til now.

Yep - for $15 you now can get the first 20 scenarios. I have those scenarios but I got them the hard way, for probably $300-$400. Lesson learned.

Now I’m really depressed - maybe 4 or 5. lol. I guess it’s still cheaper than golf or skiing.
Or motorcycles, divorce, and mid life crisis cars…

Back on topic; maybe someday a printable, downloadable version of the map and scenarios?

Yes, those also! I combined first motorcycle (and it was not cheap) at 54 with the midlife crisis. Divorce followed a few years anyway. A trifecta.

Jim, that is unfortunate... Even with the decade long hiatus, I think I have managed 3 to 4 from every core game, AP, WO, Journal, and other official MMP scenario pack. Not so much on the HASL's as I'd like. Oh great @%#$%^&@ Now I am depressed. Even Dr. Phil recommends 80% scenario completion with ASL. He is simply stunned...

It’s the residual FOMO I still have. Don’t want to miss out on the next Cold Crocs, etc. or BRT, which I did pass on. Otherwise I could have sold it on eBay and retired to Palm Springs.

If it's any consolation, it's pouring there today.
