It's the beginning of their MPh. A German leader is stacked with two squads (one with MMG) inside a single-story house, with a halftrack in bypass.

The leader loads onto to the ht along with the non-MMG squad. The other squad stays on foot and would like to use armored assault with the halftrack. So far, the ht has spent 4MPs (plus 1 to start = 5), the passengers have spent 1 of 4 MFs, and the Infantry squad with MMG hasn't spent anything yet.

Question: Does the leader still have a MF bonus to grant the MMG squad when they move using Armored Assault?

So far as I can tell, the answer is yes even though the leader himself only has 4MFs when loading. D.6.65 makes clear that a Passenger leader can grant a MF bonus to Infantry:

D6.65 ...A CE Passenger leader may provide a leader-MF bonus (A4.12) to Infantry if they all move as a stack throughout their MPh.

and A4.12 and D6.4 only specify limitations based upon what the MMC (not on what the leader) does:

A4.12 LEADER BONUS: Any Good Order MMC which begins the MPh/APh and ends its MPh/APh stacked with a leader of the same nationality in the same Location, at the same level (2.8), and with the same wire/entrenchment/panji/paddy status is eligible for a two MF bonus during that MPh/APh, provided it expends all its MF while moving in a combined stack with that leader, and does not expend any of its MF to mount, ride, or dismount any form of conveyance.
D6.4 ...A leader cannot apply his MF bonus to units that load/unload during the same MPh (A4.12), but he can add his IPC to one such unit's IPC to increase its movement capability (A4.42).
Though my conclusion seems weird (since the leader himself only has 4 MFs when (un)loading), the situation may be similar to a wounded leader (with just 3MFs) can still grant the 2MF bonus to accompanying MMC. Any thoughts?

Think you've answered your own question if you re-read A4.12: "...and does not expend any of its MF to mount, ride, or dismount any form of conveyance. "

Not so fast! ...since the entire paragraph is discussing the actions of the MMC (not the leader himself).

...provided it [the MMC] expends all its MF while moving in a combined stack with that leader, and does not expend any of its MF to mount, ride, or dismount any form of conveyance.
The clause "with that leader" clarifies that "it" refers to the MMC (as it has for all of 4.12).

A4.12 & A13.3 May a Cavalry leader provide a
MF bonus to Infantry in his Location? May a
leader who is a Passenger/Rider?

A. Yes, so long as the provisions of A4.12 are not
violated. However, since the leader and Infantry
must move as a stack, the leader in the second
case would have to be on an AFV using Armored
Assault with that Infantry. [An90; An95w; An96;

That does seem to answer the question. Thanks! (Not sure how I missed this Q&A).

I was surprised to see the old Q&A but it does answer the question.
