I am looking at SP22 "Tod's Last Stand".

Per SSR1 the "EC are mild with no wind at start."

Mild? :dontknow

Can anyone illumine me what is meant, please? I suppose it might be an erratum and meant to mean "moderate" but I want to make sure.

Probably. It is a twenty year old scenario now! Time flies.

Yes, in old scenarios "Mild" was used as "Moderate". The wording changed over time.

You mean, scenario designers/publishers actually started paying attention to the wording of the rules after players kept asking them "what the heck does that mean?!". Even TAHGC (pre-MMP) took a little while to get into the groove. Seems to be a (relatively) common sign of progression in a company's "early" releases vs. their "later" releases (assuming they stick around long enough to have later releases).

Probably this was the wording used in the Squad Leader - GI: Anvil of Victory modules. I should check those "old" rules...

Whatever the cause for the wording, I believe the general consent is that it is supposed to mean "Moderate" instead of "mild" as a conclusion to my opening question.

Thanks all for the input.

The wording of ASL rules never changed.
"Mild" is as wrong as "Spicy" or "Angry".

Hi, when I say "over time the wording changed" I am referring to the transition from Squad Leader to Advanced Squad Leader. In ASL "Mild" does not exist but it existed in Squad Leader (IIRC). It is possible that some scenario designer forgot about the new wording and used the old one. I know this is not correct in ASL. I am only arguing why one could have used that term. In Squad Leader "Mild" had the same effect as "Moderate" in ASL. So the Scenario Designer probably wanted to say "Moderate" but used an obsolete wording.

in this scenario, it does not really matter.

Against a half-competent German player, the German can never win.

And I am being Mild when I write that.

Let us admit that at least one SP scenario got it wrong and that the reputation that that TPP never needs errata is overrated.
Ouch! Scratching the sacred cow is annoying. ;)

You're saying that the Germans just can't beat themselves?
I am mildly confused.

I think what he's saying is that he needs an erratum.

BTW, ROAR currently has it as 56-41, putting the scenario in the top third of recorded scenarios by balance.

Mild is when I put one serrano chili in my Tikka Masala dish.

I played SP22 at ASLOK once with Steve Flicker as the Brits and won easily. We both felt that it really favored the Brits.

I see ROAR has it at German 56 British 41 and am totally bamboozled.

Hi Rich,

wanna play this at ASLOK this October? You can have the Brits !

I just do not see how any of the British can make it across the stream against an agressive German setup. Or get into the farmhouse if the Germans get there first.

ROAR has it 56-41 in the German's favor.

I did not encounter an aggressive German setup, so you probably have the clue as to why I am Bamboozled. Don't remember my playing details, but the dice can often distort a single playing.

I am driving out to ASLOK on Tuesday with David Goldman, so will not have as much time as other years. However, when my inevitable early mini exit occurs, I will look you up for a game (maybe something new, despite our board setup dystopia).
