So someone asked why purchase the eASL Rulebook.

My response was.

The eASLRule book is really the best way to go for a number of reasons:

  1. MMP will update it periodically with any updates needed
  2. It contains Chapters A-H, J-K, and W, the index and appendices (oh, and all the charts)
  3. the eHASL will be added soon (either directly to this PDF or as an add on PDF of some sort)
  4. its fully searchable with every PDF reader (I currently use SumatraPDF)
  5. you can zoom in or out in the PDF to your heart's content (older eyes or if you have a 60 inch HD TV your viewing it on)
  6. You can read the entire ASL rule book on your iPhone in the toilet on a airplane in a hurricane without worrying about the wind or a monkey messing with your pages
  7. its much lighter to carry around in your phone or tablet then lugging 125 pounds of printed text around and screwing up your back
  8. You will save a lot of trees an unnecessary and early death.
For $60 bucks its a steal and a godsend.

Of course YMMV

The searchability alone makes it worth it to me.

For example you can find all the references to "woods-road" or "CC counter" that are scattered through the rulebook.

EDIT: Could really use the addition of Chapter S!!

I prefer paper and use the main ASLRB at home. But I do use the eASLRB when I'm out and about, as you say. I find both valuable as well as the pASRLB. I use all three depending on my situation.

Item 6 above also applies to Android? I'd hate to get on the plane and then....

The eASLRB has saved me untold time, as I am in the "has to look up a lotta sh*t" phase. I can't recommend it enough. I don't use the printed at all.

The eASLRB allows me to screenshot and underline rule paragraphs when trying to answer rules questions.
