I have an IPod application named Tunein Radio, which streams both reguluar radio broadcasts and interent broadcasts.

I discovered SomaFM. It is free and streams about a dozen sub-channels. Three or four of them are primarily synthesizer music including the sub-channels of: Groove Zone, Space Station Soma, Drone and Mission Control.

Misson Control is interesting, overlaying actual radio transmissions of the Apollo missions over synthesized music, it works suprisingly well. Groove Salad is also excellent.

I have been listening to a few days on my IPod and then finally visited the actual website, which is not very attractive.

If you are in the mood for free non-stop, synthesizer music for your work or gaming environment, it is pretty good. (I ended up contributing $40 for what I felt was some unique broadcasting).

Tunein Radio is the best app I own. I love SomaFm too and listen to it alot at work. Even though I have Tunein, I purchased the SomaFM app too as a way of supporting them.

Thanks for the heads-up! I love internet radio and always have one streaming in the background. I currently prefer Pandora (I liked it so much I purchased stock during their recent IPO :)) and Last.FM.

I'm gonna head over and check out SomaFM now....

Boy, I have to confess to really enjoying SomaFM's Groove Salad!
Groove Salad is very nice. I've been listening to Lush a lot lately. Secret Agent can be fun to listen to also. Soma really has the best mix of channels that I've found out there.

Music is so personal, it is a hard thing to recommend or expect anyone else to like ...but I got caught up in my enthusiasm when I made my post here.

I am glad someone else gets some value out of soma for awhile! I definitely do like it as my background aural wallpaper. I do get a kick out of mission control. I do like drone too; I feel like I have a movie soundtrack to my life. LOL.

I'm glad you spoke up. At least I know there are others who dig Soma as much as I do!
