Sniper gets a '1' and is activated. The alternate target DR leaves two possible targets: a concealed infantry stack in woods, and a concealed AFV in another, equidistant woods hex. If the Sniper player picks the AFV hex in hopes of the vehicle being CE, and it's BU instead, what happens to the Sniper attack? Is it nullified?

Q&A:

A14.2 & A14.21
A sniper’s initial target hex has no eligible targets, but there are two eligible target hexes equidistant from the initial target hex:
one with a squad with a +1 DRM, another with a squad with a +1 DRM and a crew in the 1+5+7 pillbox. Can the sniper opt to
attack the hex containing the squad and pillbox rather than the target hex with only a squad? If ‘yes’ can the sniper then select to
attack a gun crew inside a bunker, over the valid squad target on top of the bunker?
A. Yes. No; A14.21 says the squad’s Location is targeted by the Sniper. {1}
An AFV with no vulnerable PRC is not an eligible target. Select again.

His opponent will tell him that the target is inelligible.
At least the Sniper's owner knows that it is not a dummy stack or a CE or unarmoured vehicle.

This brings up an interesting question?
May the sniper player choose the concealed AFV under the Concealment counter so he can remove its concealment? It would seem a viable tactic if you need to shoot it? Just pondering.

I think not, @jimfer. A14.21 says
"If the present target hex contains neither an eligible target (14.22) nor the enemy Sniper counter, the attacking Sniper counter is moved to, and will attack, the hex closest (in hexes) to that target hex which does contain one/both of them."
And A14.22 says an AFV with no Vulnerable PRC is not an eligible target.
I think that if the Random Location DR positions the Sniper to a hex with only a concealed BU CT AFV, the other player has to say that there are no eligible targets there, and similarly if such a hex is being considered for A14.21.
