I think both statements below are correct...but looking for confirmation or correction.

The Germans and the 2nd Level Russians can shoot at each other without SMOKE affecting their shots.

If the Germans fire down at hex Z3 then their shot would be affected by the SMOKE in Y3.

A24.4. Smoke is a two level hindrance. So, I agree it goes to the bottom of level 2 (from the bottom of level 0, through level 0, and through level1). So the guys on second level are not hindered shooting at each other.

I have an HTML eASLRB with 23,000 plus hyperlinks in it at last count...and I just noticed that example (while in my eASLRB) was not hyperlinked so it didn't catch my eye even after all these years...D'oh!
