I have been excited about SaP ever since I first heard of it. I hope it goes to MMP

Pete:

Is it a question of MMP accepting it or you shopping it to others?
MMP would be the best choice but it might take a long time to be released. HOB would not be a bad choice either though. They have the reputation behind them of producing thorough HASL's like OtO & BRV.

Can't agree with that. Dave's a good friend of mine, a superb ASL player and good scenario designer.
Yeah, but being a CH item one should wait for the v3 version so as not to have to pay for the same product 2-3 times.

v1 = Map hexes to small...
v2 = CG is broken because XYZ tactic is unbeatable...
v3 = All fixed...

In my experience, that is the usual sequence of CH HASL. ;)

Seems HoB has too much on their plate right now.

Don Petros is doing the map and CG-- I am doing most of the scenarios (have two submissions on a particular part from Chas Smith of HoB)

I will have the VASL (imperfect ) version of the map available, along with a few scenarios. (Not sure if I will playtest any right now.)
Good move to use VASL to help with the playtesting. I'd asked for one for VotG, but it got forbidden by the powers that be.

I understand that any map goes through iterations, but even a slightly out of date one would have helped greatly.

Good to see the interest in SaP. Some comments.

Due to the size of the CG, many existing counter types are required which exceed the standard number from BV. This will be a challenge - to include many more standard unit counters. Not that many new counter types will be required however.
The team that has been involved includes the best in the business - Pete, Chas, and some of the most solid CG playtesters in the ASL world who live in SoCal (Jim Aikens, Eric Morton, Fred Timm) have been hammering and fine-tuning away at this for years. The scenarios are intense tournament sized battles over a wide variety of terrain type. Once it's published, it will be an instant classic.
The idea was to find a battle at Kursk that could present in a microcosm the larger battle for Kursk; the irresistable force up against a deep and fluid defensive belt. In the CG, each side gets to command a very large combined arms force, covering a large piece of terrain, both rural and strung-out urban.
If your dream is to push a lot of panzers and infantry across vast grainfield, or to set up a deep defensive belt with mobile reserves - then this is your game. It's BRT and RB combined, but with some interesting surprises which keep the game highly fluid.
We can only hope MMP can put it out there within a reasonable time period. Stay tuned.

I want it now...

Pete & Don

Speaking about counters, which ones are extensevely used ? Beside infantry and AFVs /Guns of both sides fitting that time periode, trenches, pillboxes, AT-Ditches, Mines ????

Which new counters can we expect ? Russian FBs, any new Vehicles ?

Any totally new terrain types :devious:

Questions over questions...

Yes and yes. Let's get this on PO ASAP. I'll buy 10 copies if it comes out by the end of next year.

I wouldnt get too worked up about it yet. VotG is 1.8 years past the mirage of pre-order and likely (sadly) well beyond the horizon, one can only guess at when SaP will come out...like 2010...in the month with 5 mondays.

SaP is going to be the 1st HASL on the battle of Kursk.
I'm really looking forward to it.
From my various scenarios set at Kursk I'm getting a picture of the kind of warfare that it was.
Massive fortification complexes, dug-in tanks and cupollas, relatively open terrain ideal for massed armor battles, trench and pillbox networks etc. etc.

It was the old equation of "immovable object vs irresistable force".
What makes it such interesting ASL is that so many factors come into play. Its 'Combined Arms' at its peak.

Slaughter At Ponyri seems to involve many of those elements mentioned above from what I've heard. It will be a very intense ASL experience.

I'm looking forward to trying out assaulting the Russian lines with companies of German troops with Tanks and SPG galore. Heavy German AFV + Halftracks + Elite Troops laden with fortification busting SW; whats not to like!
Or trying my hand at designing the defense perimeter with lots of Fortification 'goodies' at my disposal.

Kursk deserves an HASL of its own; like Stalingrad, Ardennes, Arnhem etc.

Can't wait!!! :surprise:
I was talking about MMP Kursk today with my oponent asking him why MMP have left it (intentionally or not, I dont know) to the TPP. Im reading about it now in Journal 9. I wonder what happened to it
