I'm happy to see this has been done, finally.

You need to get your redirects set up correctly now. HTTP should redirect to HTTPS. Without that, all the old links will still give warnings in modern browsers.

The bots will catch up. If I am not mistaken, first time posters can be put into a moderated status. This would allow new people to post but the post does not go "live" until approved by a moderator. Of course, moderators would kill spam. Spammers would get the message and move on. It sucks for a new guy posting but it stops spam from making it to the live server. -- jim

The problem is that if you start from https://gamesquad.com and click “ENTER” it takes you to the http (i.e. insecure) forum index.

Instead, try this link to the forums themselves with the proper https included:

That should be secure, and it should stay secure for every forum link you follow from there.

Reset your security restrictions back to "normal" and clear out any exceptions.

The proper solution is a redirect from HTTP to HTTPS, though.

Please may we also have a redirect? This is the standard solution to this problem---what pretty much every website does.

As has been mentioned above, limiting the posting ability of the newly registered is the next step in becoming a civilized society. Most of the other gaming sites and pages I see use that simple gate on spammers (Which phases can the attacking player fire in? etc). If need be more than just the few current moderators could be allowed to approve members.

They did. In lesser numbers, but I have had to kill a handful.

I have no technical competence.
I just noted that the bots attacks didn't occur after the change, and that the attacks have resumed.

It won't until they change the URL in the script. It could be the domain is not setup to automatically redirect http to https. -- jim

Bots are back, with a massive vengeance.
I really would love not to have to kill those swarms of spam posts: I was loving my "unemployed moderator" status.

Discourse is very good at detecting and deterring spammers. I killed spam accounts daily before we switched Vassal's forum to use Discourse, and now do it only a few times a month. If you're sinking significant time into playing whac-a-mole with spammers, I recommend looking into switching.

Can we please get HTTP to redirect to HTTPS? Adding HTTPS isn't a complete solution by itself.
