A reporter traveling with the US 3rd Army (Greg Kelly, I think)... had this mini AAR to report...

"A Fadayeen drove a bus into a Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle... on purpose!

"The bus was then destroyed by 105mm fire... on purpose."

did they really mean...

did they really mean 105mm fire?

could they have meant 120mm fire?

As I understand it, we have M1A2s and A3s in theater, which fire 120mm cannons.

I could be wrong--they might be using 105mm, which in turn mean M1A1s

(As a note, I just left the Natl Guard, and we used M1 and M1ps which use the 105mm, hence my knowledge.)

FINAL note, a 105mm round would destroy a bus, and badly at that....

I was THINKING 120mm but TYPED 105mm.

Bad fingers. Bad, bad, bad fingers.

questions...

1) Could a bus hit a Bradley with enough force to knock it off it's tread?

2) Are there any rules in section D regarding ramming?

3) Did the M1A2 fire in Defensive fire or Prep fire?

4) And what would be left of the bus?

Could a...

Ok, here goes...
1) Could a bus hit a Bradley with enough force to knock it off it's tread?

I suppose so, if it had enough speed and hit it broadside. But my money is on the Bradley.

2) Are there any rules in section D regarding ramming?

No, but there was a module put out by the now defunct ON ALL FRONTS that covered ramming in a mini Kursk campaign. I've got it somewhere in that mess I call my basement...sigh.....

3) Did the M1A2 fire in Defensive fire or Prep fire?

The answer to that is YES

4) And what would be left of the bus?

Well, as you know, a hit vs. a soft skin vehicle is not necessarily a kill ie the round could shatter one side and pass out the other unexploded.

HOWEVER, if it did explode--lets assume he used a HEAT round not APDS (armor piercing discarding sabot--or just plain SABOT round), I'm sure that the bus was nothing but shards and pieces of rubber/flesh when it was over.

Can you imagine the fire commands in the Abrams?

TC: Gunner, HEAT, Bus ramming Bradley
GUNNER: IDENTIFY
LOADER: UP
TC: FIRE
GUNNER: ON THE WAY....
Oh, I hope the Greyhound people forgive for what I've done....

About "ramming" rules, I presume that Overrun rules are the nearest ones.
But a vehicle cannot enter an enemy AFV hex if it cannot detroy it with <= TK 5 (I am usign my memory, here).
If the bus had a full load of fuel (or some jerrycans in it), could one give it a "Flame" TK #? Or some TNT, transforming it in a bulky "Goliath" (which can enter an AFV Location and try to kill it, like a placed DC...
About ramming rules, don't you think there are already enough suicidal moves in ASL contests? Final rushes against killing stacks, firing ordnance with the only hope being a CH, etc.
