When constructing a two player scenario from the custom scenario template is it possible to assign setup areas and a pool of forces available for deployment within the setup area or must all forces start the scenario on map?

Thanks in advance

Hi Jim,

The Custom Scenarios don't have set up limit areas. Users are free to assign set up areas, objectives, and other constraints as they see fit.

In the "Add Optional Units" menu you will see a large selection of appropriate units in various sizes. Players normally negotiate their forces using the games attrition point values to estimate the relative combat power of each side. For some examples check out some of the user created scenarios at TacOpsHQ

so, there is no game defined setup area as in some of the canned scenarios?

You would have to say something like "Blue set up east of the 03 line and red west of the 17 line"

In addition, all forces must start on map...No Reinforcements?

Correct on all three points. Various scenarios get around the "no reinforcement" problem by either a convention on placement, e.g. "reinforcements must not cross the river before turn X" or by simply using a large map and playing the travel time.

One thing v5 will give you when we get an official upgrade is an off map holding area.
[TacOpsMC Specification] Completed addition of off map unit holding
window. This window can be used to represent ships located outside the
visual database, effectively simulating ships operating over the horizon
