HI,

this is just really a clarification - in A23.7 states that a set DC can be detonated in any friendly fire phase.

Does this mean that a set DC cannot be detonated in the enemy move phase if a unit moves into the set DC hex but only in the defensive fire phase at which point the said unit could no longer be in the set DC hex.

If the set DC can attack in the movement phase does it effect no moving units in the set DC location?

Regards

Simon

The enemy MPh is considered a friendly fire phase for the Defender.

Set DC only attack moving units, other non-moving units can only be eliminated by rubble (and BOG/stun+1 an AFV) or when a bridge is destroyed.

Note the Set DC can only be detonated by a non-pinned-unit assigned to it and that pass its NTC and with a LOS in the range of 2-to-6 hexes [EXC: Japanese] to the SET DC,

A7.1 Fire attacks are the main process by which a unit attacks enemy units.
Fire attacks can occur in the PFPh and AFPh by the ATTACKER and in the
MPh and the DFPh by the DEFENDER, but no unit can fire its inherent
PP/SW/Gun in more than one fire phase (A.15) per Player Tum.

There is old Q&A saying yes, it can:
A23.7 May a Set DC be detonated during the opponent’s MPh? If yes, does it leave Residual FP?
A. Yes, versus a moving target (A8.1). Yes – 12FP. [An95w; An96]

It normally wouldn't affect non-moving units during the MPh, but they'd obviously be affected if Rubble is created.

Note the Set DC can only be detonated by a non-pinned-MMC assigned to it and that pass its NTC and with a LOS in the range of 2-to-6 hexes [EXC: Japanese] to the SET DC,

Are you sure it has to be an MMC? A23.7 says Good Order Unit.

An SMC can Set a DC and if it does so it must also detonate the Set DC.

Usually if the DC is Set during play it is done by a Squad because they are faster, but if you are allowed to Set the DC during setup, the setting unit (with the detonator) can be an SMC if allowed by the SSR that allows the DC to be Set.
