Turn 2
All German units were able to rally (woo-hoo) and resume their offense against the Russian defenders. The Russian 10-3 was able to rally the units he was with, including a weak 6+1.

The Germans were able to gain more ground as the Russians blew a lot of activation checks, lots of sixes. The first German units were able to enter the Stalingrad 1 railstation and taking out some Russian units in CC. German units have also managed to take more buildings along hexrow D and forcing some ACs along the northern edge, unfortunately bringing some firepower against the Germans.

Currently, a 426, 458/HMG occupy F33; a 447, 237, 10-3, 6+1 in hex G34; a 226 in F39; 9-0, 458, 426/ATR in E41, and a 8-0 with a broken 447/LMG in D46 plus several other broken Russian squads and HS which hopefully can be rallied to stiffen the Russian defense.

Losses were relatively light for the Russians with only a 328 and a 237 KIA plus the loss of anotheer 228 crew and 328 as prisoners. This brings the total to 2x228, 328, 226 as prisoners.

Russian turn 2. The automatic RE resulted in hex K32 turning into a fanatic strongpoint as there is a German unit adjacent (10-3, 127/HMG, 838, 127/MMG). The Russians are defending with a 458, 228, 45L AT gun and have been able to take all of the German firepower at them so far. No additional reinforcements from the turn 1 RE.

Russians were able to activate a couple more guns (all 45L AT guns) and an SU-76 in hex H32, although its fire did not do anything at an adjacent German stack. During the DFPh, the SU-76 took multiple shots at the CE crew, but none of the attacks did anything at all.

A StuG took a long shot (13 hexes, down the J road) at a reinforcement S? and scored a hit. A 527 was activated and was promptly broken.

The Germans are ready to bring more units into the railway station as there are hardly any GO Russian units there, save hex G29 with a 45L AT gun and a 527 for protection.

German turn 3.
Fortunately, their RE was tripped resulting in a 9-2, 2x468.
The Germans were able to bring more units into the railway station but overall did not inflict much damage to the Russians. The SU-76 was taken out in CC and one of the StuGs narrowly avoided getting a molotov cocktail from some adjacent Russians. Pesky mothers, those guys.

The crew maning a 45L in K32 were finally taken out along with the protecting 527. The Russians also managed to break their HMG in F33. One StuG bogged in hex E39 while a German crew took possession of a 37L AA gun in hex F31.

Overall, with the successful ACs, resistance is stiffening, especially along the northern edge. The Germans are closing in however.

Russian turn 3.
Auto RE resulted in 9 S? reinforcements which will enter along the southern edge. This is a bit of an issue for the Germans as they only have 1 StuG, 2x458, 9-0 plus a captured Russian flamethrower.

As quickly as the Russians reinforced their northern line, they disappeared, mostly to broken units having to route away. One of the Russian S? reinforcements turned into a 527 which jumped the Germans in CC. While the 527 bit the big one for the Motherland, he was able to take out a 468/FL.
This side of the German defense is pretty weak and there are more Russian S? waiting to be activated.

The Russians were able to break all of the German units which jumped the SU-76, so at least they have that going from them.

A shot from a German FL broke the Commissar and his units, save for a 458 who decided enough was enough and went berserk.

Total Casualties thus far:
R: 2x628, 527, 2x426, 2x248, 2x328, 4x237, 8-1, and the SU-76.
G: 468, 2x467, 838, 127, and 2 FL. 2x247 escorted the Russian prisoners off board.

The railway station belongs to the Germans now, having taken out the 228/45L AT gun and 527. Unfortunetly, the Southern edge is going to be toast as there is only a StuG, 9-2, and a 468 down there, facing off against 2 S? which will get their AC during their DFPh.

These are my notes, but if there is anything else you would like to know, let me know and I will include them in my notes.

Off to German turn 4.

Good AAR Peebs. Are you playing this on VASL or do you have it set up. It would be really interesting to see what it looks like set up.

Bill,

I am using the traditional method, counters. Our digital camera is acting up, but if I can get it going, I will try to post some pics.

Three views at the end of German turn 4. The Yellow S? are reinforcements for the Soviets from off board.
