All,

Punching and sorting through counters today at lunch and noticed some differences in what the M4/76(a) counter looks like in this game.

BVv1 has the M4A1 counter front and back.

BVv2or 3(?) ((c) 2005 on counter sheet) has the M4A3 with a M4A1 counter on the back.

BVv3 ((c) 2011) has an M4A3 on the front with a M4A3 counter on the back.

SK 3 has the M4A3 on the front and the M4A3 counter on the back. When I look in the vehicle notes for SK3, it displays the M4A1 counter with the vehicle note.

I'm trying to sort the vehicles to what they are, but I want to know has anyone else discovered this difference with this particular counter?

Thanks for looking.

Those should be M4A2(76) which apart from the engine deck were identical to the USM4A3(76) in outward appearance. Both the M4A2(76) and M4A3(76) came in HVSS and VVSS suspension variants, though the HVSS suspension was far more common on the M4A3(76).

VVSS = Vertical Volute Spring uspension, the original M4 suspension.
HVSS = orizontal Volute Spring Suspension, the later (end 44+), wider suspension.

From above the difference would be the mudguard and track width.

If memory serves, the Soviets were only sent M4A2s. (75 and 76mm). So there should only be square hulls on Soviet Shermans...

The trick is that they use black TH numbers. They sat back at 12 hexes, double acquired the location and then scored two direct hits. Two flat 12FP effects DR. The SS 9-2 leader broke and then broke again and died. The rest of the stack crumbled. The M4's hit on a 4 or less, because Rain +1, BU +1, TEM +3, Acq -2 for a net +3 TH. Then the Russian 10-3 with the 2x HMGs finished off the job! ;)

Good shooting nonetheless but yeah, 10-3s are like that!
