Here a picture explains a 1000 words.

The Russian perimeter (T0 area) does not join any other Russian perimeter in addition it is enclosed in the German perimeter which
is a full joined perimeter. Can the Russian enter ANY forces in this area ??

Can the Russian enter forces ( on the 23rd B) in the area shown ?

Thanks

O11.4 SSR CG9 regulates where Russian units can enter.

During an RO CG, use the following to determine where reinforcements enter the RO map.

  • RUSSIAN AFV RG: enter on any friendly-Controlled (at scenario start) Level 0 east-/south-edge land hex(es) (EX: HH48, JJ12). If no such hex exists, the RG may not enter during that CG scenario. All AFV of the same RG entering on the same turn must do so along the same edge.

  • RUSSIAN INFANTRY RG: enter on any east-edge land hex(es) of hexrow JJ and/or on hex HH48/II48, provided that such hex(es) is currently friendly-Controlled and was friendly-Controlled at scenario start. If no such hex exists, such Russian RG may enter along the south edge on/east-of hexrow M [EXC: JJ48].

Areas that are encompassed by other perimeters are usually isolated.

Thus X is isolated because it is enclosed by Y.

YYYYY
XXXYY
XXXYY
XXXYY
YYYYY

I the first example above is it presumed that the hex just out of the map area is also judged to be Russian?

Otherwise the R is definitely isolated.

In the
second case the German is forced to make a move ( wish they had riders) down the Volga line since unlike RB
the whole east area is an entry area.. ( until G take control).

That is a-historical to say the least !

Come on designers did you read anything on this???

At the very least the R should not be allowed to enter above H 25..

In RB the entire east edge (land hexes) is also a Russian entry area - so I am not sure what you mean by "unlike RB" ?

During an RB CG, use the following to determine where reinforcements enter the RB map:

  • RUSSIAN AFV RG: enter on any friendly-Controlled (at scenario start) east-/south-edge land hex(es). If no such hex exists, the AFV may enter on any east-edge land hex(es) of hexrow JJ. All AFV of the same RG entering on the same turn must do so along the same edge.

  • RUSSIAN INFANTRY RG: enter on any east-edge land hex(es) of hexrow JJ that is currently friendly-Controlled and was friendly-Controlled at scenario start. If no such hex exists, such Russian RG may enter along the east edge on/south of JJ36.
