I only found the Q&A I copied in. The person who posed the questions in that Q&A was obviously thinking of movement and PP issues for the defender with the second part regarding the MMG. But the answers were very simple (and digital - no, no, no). The defenders action is abstracted in the attackers movement phase. Don't roll a 12 though or you will be abstracted out into the street. Otherwise there is no need to count how many of the defending squad actually went into the street, how many stayed back with the MMG, how many covered the attackers etc.
