Hi all,
I asked this rules question on FB - because GS seems instable these days and I couldn't reach it at the time - but I received no answer until now.

What happens to a unit which routs into or through a Deep Stream?
Does it gain CX status?

B20.43 DEEP: If a stream is deep, Infantry/Cavalry enter at a cost of four MF and become CX.
Note that it does not specify entry during MPh - but it has a word about APh : " (A4.72 would apply to an advance entry)"
A4.51 only says: "A unit's CX counter is removed if the unit breaks".
It says nothing about gaining CX while routing.

Would that be an exceptional case when an already broken unit gains CX status?
(there could be effects, for an example, during CC).

And what about an accompanying (unbroken) leader?

I think the broken units become CX.
Unlike the bamboo, which requires like crawl to enter, you can rout into a deep stream and out of it again if you have enough mf. There is no requirement for the stream to be entered in the MPh or AdvPh so you can go in during the RtPh.

Thanks Vinnie.
I believe that you are right, even though having a CX counter on a brokie feels strange.

I was waiting for a Q to come in through the Q&A process, but I didn't see one.
Nonetheless, I did not want this thread to go uncontradicted.

Broken units do not become CX. A Good Order leader routing with a broken unit could possibly become CX.

Hey Perry,
How nice for chiming in!
I didn't send you a question, because I thought that the correct answer to the question had been provided.
Thank you for your answer.

Do you think that adding sentence in some place of the rules about the impossibility of a broken unit to gain CX status, whatever the circumstances, would make sense?
