The Germans certainly do take a lot of ground on that first scenario. The Russians will need everyone of their 3 inf coy RG on the second scenario to stem the tide.

Germans winning?
About 20 minutes into the video clip the German Morning Assault begins and if you compare the historical perimeter at the end of the German Afternoon Assault with our perimeter it is different but terrain lost almost the same. Although, we believe, what will happened on scenario 3 (24th Oct) will for sure not be comparable with the historical event.

Awesome documentary, so question arises: knowing that the Russians have a manpower shortage issue. is it wise to engage the Germans so far from the factory as I have seen, some players do. It seems wasting the troops holding buildings that can be isolated is not the correct use of the resources. So what is your solution to this tactical problem?

Looks like you have made invalid purchases on both sides.
O11.6195 states that a maximum of 2 infantry company RG's may be purchased per CG Day.
The Germans are allowed to buy 2 +2 as per the Historical DRM Chart. However they bought 2 coys on the first scenario and 3 on the second scenario. That is 1 too many since the first two scenarios are happening on the same CG Day.
It's even worse for the Russians who are only allowed to buy 2 in total for the first two scenarios. They bought 2 on the first scenario and 3 on the second scenario which is 3 too many.

Correcting this would skew it even more in favor of the Germans.

The second scenario on the first day is played as if occuring on a new (the next) CG Day.

I.6 To represent the second phase of the German assault on 23 October, there is automatically a second CG scenario on the first CG Day. A complete RePh is performed between the 1st and 2nd scenarios, just as if this second scenario were occurring on the next CG Day. Make interim entries on the CG Roster for the 1st scenario. For this 2nd scenario the German player is assumed to have selected the “Attack” Initiative chit and the Russian player the “Idle” chit (11.623).

That's not how I read it. I read it as the RePh is occurring between the scenarios instead of the scenarios occurring back to back. It is still the same CG Day. The rule even explicitly state that there are two scenarios on the same CG Day. Then it states that a RePh has to occur between the scenarios.

The second scenario occurs on the same CG Day - but the RePh between the 1st and the 2nd scenario is performed "just as if this second scenario were occurring on the next CG Day." This is how it's intended to be played.

Here is a Perry Sez:

..and in this thread is more input (from Fortenberry):

It is very poorly worded, if that is the intention.
In any case, I think we have to play it that way because otherwise its going to be game over for the Russians very early.

Yes, we just completed the 3rd scenario (2nd day) and if the Russians had not been able to purchase infantry in the "interim" scenario it would have been ugly.

As ours is right now (update coming tomorrow maybe) it's about even infantry wise

The fact that the Russians can buy 3 Inf Coy on the second scenario/first CG Day makes it even more weird,
Very poorly done by MMP.
Anyway we are about to start the CG, so good that we got this cleared up.

Personally I think the intention is clear (enough) - but granted, there will always be a discrepancy between what the designers/developers/publishers/editers/proofreaders and what some players will think is clear (enough) - one of the perils/hard-things when crafting rules/VC/SSR/etc.

What interpretation seems clear for some, might not be for others.

8 turns first scenario can affect the whole campaign a lot.
Odds for the CG scenario to end in the first morning Assault:
Turn 6 (33%, 3 of 9), Turn 7 (44%, 4 of 9), Turn 8 (23%, 2 of 9).

Other CG scenario the ending will be earlier:
Turn 5 (16%), Turn 6 (38%), Turn 7 (38%), Turn 8 (8%).

The Germans purchased 2 Coy to add to the Morning Assault and 2 Coy to the Afternoon Attack. Think you conflate a 'Hvy Wpn Pltn for a Hvy Wpn Coy.
It's even worse for the Russians who are only allowed to buy 2 in total for the first two scenarios. They bought 2 on the first scenario and 3 on the second scenario which is 3 too many.

Correcting this would skew it even more in favor of the Germans.
Think the wording of that rule could have been better, with even less rule text:
Ex: In the Morning Scenario, the Russian player can purchase max 2 Coy and in the Afternoon max 3 Coy, the Germans have no limits.

Think it is wise, in 14 Game Turns on 23/10 the Germans have lost about 500 soldiers (10 Ldr, 47 Sq-Eq, 9 SWs, 3 AFVs).

Russian Casualities are 550 soldiers and 140 Militia (although a Militia Coy is not really counted, Soviets authorities only account for them as poor civilians massacred, lol).
8 Ldr, 66.5 Sq-Eq, 22 SWs, 1 Gun, 4 AFVs.

Think it is right tactic to oppose the Germans at the Bolouvard, but have no illusion to be able to hold it and withdraw as the Germans pressure builds up.
