Apologies if this is obvious.

I have an 8-0 adj to a staff car in open ground.
I move 1 into the car hex, 2 to board and then the car gets 4/4 of movement (full movement) because my 8-0 has 4 MF remaining?

Doesn't that seem odd? What if I was in the car hex? 1 to board, and 5/4 remaining? Leaders get to punch the tachometer into the red zone without ESB, but only when loading solo and not if they started the turn as passenger?

Or for this purpose all infantry has 4MF...end of story?

NRBH, but I seem to recall a statement to the effect that any unit that loads onto transport during its MPh never gets more than 4 MF for that MPh, even if its a SMC, stacked with leader, moving on a road, etc. Sorry that I don't have the reference, and even more sorry if I'm wrong.

Take a look at section A4.11

The MF allotment of a SMC is reduced to four MF if it mounts, rides . . .
