I was looking for some good scenarios set in Poland 1939 and began perusing this one. Then I noted that the SS squads it depicts are 658s, rather than 468s. I don't recall ever seeing 1939 SS squads so depicted, and wondered if it might be a mistake. I note though that on the HoB website, there seems to be no errata published for Recon by Fire 4 as yet.
Are the squads indeed meant to be 658s as depicted?

Howdy

They sure are 658's, it is a throw back to the battle for the warta line in old SL.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I must admit, it does look quite a fun scenario, but I am stickler for historical accuracy. I'm tempted to give it a Jim Stahler-like update myself; turn the SS into 468s which ELR replace into 467s or SS 447s, and then give the 1st line and Elite Polish squads Assault Fire capability, whilst getting rid of their LMGs.
I wonder how it would change the feel and balance of the scenario? Maybe I'll try it and write it up as an AAR.

Remember that early war SS do not have assault fire. So the rules differentiate between these and late war. Many designers will use some the SS counters from ABtF, however, the system was designed for the 658 in its original form.

Rmember that playtesting occured using the counters that are printed on the card. Any change like your suggestions will affect the balance.
