"Titanic tank battles were once fought on what is now Belarus. Now, a dedicated team of salvagers scour marsh and forest to find these forgotten reminders of World War Two. "

What an amazing article! "dedicated team of salvagers" almost seems like an understatement in this case, considering the challenging environment where they conduct their work. Very nice to see that their government appears to be supportive of their efforts.
Thanks for sharing this... great to see a running example of a KV-1!

What caught my attention is that the KV turret is a m1939 with the L-11 gun, though on a later hull. The L-11 is the same as what the T-34 m1940 carried. Only about 50 m1939 were produced. The following m1940 replaced the hull radio operator's pistol port with a DT LMG ball mounting and the L-11 gun with similarly powerful F-32 gun (both a 76 in ASL terms). The main advantage of the F-32 over the L-11 was accuracy, the L-11 recoil system proving somewhat erratic in aim in practice. Later KV-1 used the ZiS-5 (76L), a slightly modified version of the F-34 as used in the T-34 m1941 to m1943.
