Who has not played a scenario from the Forgotten War module?
If so why not?

I haven't. Mostly because my ASL play is waaay off this year, almost to the point where I could claim I'm on hiatus. But there have been a handful of scenarios played.Who has not played a scenario from the Forgotten War module?

I share your feelings regarding the Chinese. I was taken aback by that rules section.I haven't. Mostly because my ASL play is waaay off this year, almost to the point where I could claim I'm on hiatus. But there have been a handful of scenarios played.
With that said I haven't wanted to invest the time to read the new rules for FW in order to play a scenario. I must admit that I have personally run into rules fatigue and when I saw pages of rules for the Chinese, I failed my own personal Morale Check.
In the grand scheme 4 or 5 more pages is not a big deal. I'm just at a point after playing the game for 30 years (40 if you want to go back to SL) that I'm drawn either to games I already know forward & backwards (which would include A thru D of ASL) or very simple games like 1775, 1812, or Pacific Typhoon. The simple games have actually brought about a gaming renaissance in my circle of friends.I share your feelings regarding the Chinese. I was taken aback by that rules section.
A friend of mine really wanted to play scenario 210 a CPVA night assault on a Marine Hill so we both took time making cheat sheets and reading through the rules. While it seems daunting at first, I found out with all the exceptions that there are many ways for the CPVA NOT to have to use IPM so not as bad as you might think. They are definitely their own beast and interesting to play but not any more difficult than existing ASL nationalities. Fun cat n mouse scenario until the cold steel phase but it takes some time to play through.I haven't.
