I have a proposal that would greatly simplify the marching of troops in column. Would it be possible while holding ALT key and moving an entire column forward that the column would not get separated if some unit far back has spent all its movement points? It is tedious having to manually put the column together when marching a corps through a bridge or uphill on a path...

Send this along to the John Tiller Software support email and see what they say? I think you will find that as long as one of the units in the column doesn't get shot at that the entire column stays together as long as they all have the same MP allowance and the terrain allows them to do so. For instance: if your lead units are on a Pike but the rear units are on a Road or Path well the column is going to break up. Nothing John Tiller can do about that.

If a unit in the middle gets fired on then the column will get broken up. The units ahead of it will continue moving along the path you designated.

Probably the best thing to do when units are in a long column is to move them a hex at a time and if they do get separated because of fire then just pull the section in the rear up to link up with the lead units.
