I would like to print out the map extension for the Tarawa map from the Le Franc TIreur website, in order to play FT298 'Finishing Off The Tailenders'.
Can someone advise me as to the correct printer settings for my home printer, using standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper? I am using a Canon G7000 ink jet and printing from Apple Safari via the LFT website.

Thank You!

You are very seriously over-estimating the technical skills of most ASL players here by asking such a detailed question. As soon as you said Apple, I was eliminated.

I think you may need to somehow split the original map into 8 x 10 pieces that can be printed separately at 100%. The only setting I think could help is "tiling" but not all printers have that feature.

Find a print shop either in an office supply store or an independent shop, take the file in and have them print it.

No, that didn't answer your question, but it is an option and is likely a better option than you'll get in a non-tech forum.

Thanks, that's kind of what I'm starting to think is the best option. My former FtF opponent used to print out our maps from VASL, but he's since moved out of state, and I've lost contact with him. My main concern is that I want the hex sizes to match up with those on the original BRT map.

You could copy the entire image into a Paint program equivalent (Paintbrush?), remove all but a corner of the map to conserve ink, and run sizing tests. Resize at 80%, paste again, resize at 100%, etc. Print that page, see what sizes matches the closest to a normal board, and then create a file with the entire map, resize to your preferred setting, and print.

This may not be the best way, but it's the method I use to resize maps for RPGs. The program can split up the image on to multiple pages, and I highly support using a paper cutter for quick, clean lines when trimming edges.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I will start with this method.

If it is a PDF file, Adobe Acrobat will let you print a poster and split it onto several pages. Assuming the PDF is the right size, it should print for you and even allow for overlap on the different pages.

Dunno if this might be of help - I am always using this program to print out my VASL maps:

It lets you import an image,
select the paper format you want it printed on and to define the margins,
define the desired width of overlap and the side on which you want the desired overlap for pages,
define the image size either in absolute measures, in pages, or in percentage,
and turn this into a PDF which you can print.

After this, fitting togethter several paper pages to on big map is easy.
