I think it's a toss-up between GTA IV and Gears 2, but with Fallout 3 a very, very close contender.
If I had my pick, I'd likely choose Fable II - I simply had a very good time with that game from beginning to end in what was quite an addictive experience.

Suprised Metal Gear Solid 4 is not even on the list. Critics love it and I have to agree, it is the best game I played this year and one of the best I have ever played.

Ugh, MGS4. I do agree that people like it, and should be a contender.
I have played all of the games on the list, and my personal choice is still Fallout 3. Dead Space was a great surprise, same with Gears 2, but I had far more fun and spent more time with Fallout 3.
