Hi Folks,

Can anyone point to write ups comparing the LFT vs MMP pocket charts? My set is getting frayed and it's time to upgrade. :)

Thanks,

Coincidentally and conveniently, I recently posted a write-up of the Pocket Charts that compared and contrasted them to the Rat Pocket Charts. You can read it here: https://www.desperationmorale.com/products/asl-pocket-charts/. Overall, I thought the Rat Pocket Charts came off better (and I hope MMP will improve the official pocket charts going forward).

Personally, I have settled for the MMP pocket chart, even if I still own the Rat Pocket Charts v3. The Rat Pocket Charts v3 had too many errors and they are difficult to correct with pen or pencil due to the thick protective layer on the charts. That being said, there are definite areas for improvements in the official MMP product as pointed out by Pitman in his web-based review.

Depending upon your mode of play for a given game (e.g., if playing on VASL), a more complete comparison of charts would include the eASLRB. I’m specifically referring to the charts that are placed at the very end of the eASLRB. When I play a scenario on VASL, I always have the electronic version of the rules open with the IFT queued up and I can simply swipe left or right on the MacBook to move from game to rules. You can bookmark other charts or just scroll down to what you need. Most often, I really have no need for a paper version of the charts at all.
Not playing on VASL? You can still queue up the eASLRB on your tablet, iPad, or cell phone (if you have really good eyesight).

Agreed, I use the MMP chart most of the time though I do refer to some stuff on the Rat Charts that are not on MMPs. I agree with Mark, the printing could be bigger on MMPs but I got my readers for that.

I prefer the MMP pocket charts. However, mine is getting tattered and tearing at the spiral (time for a new one. I exclusively use the eASLRB at the table, but I prefer the charts in paper form.

AFAIK, the MMP charts are error free. The LFT charts, while more compact and having a little more info, has many errors. I use the MMP charts more these days, I just wish the terrain pages had terrain listed alphabetically for quicker reference.

Anybody tried taking the MMP charts apart and laminating them. They seem a little flimsy for lack of a better term.
