GAZ NZ (Ger) wins Major victory

Gaz chose a gun-heavy force, and although I committed massive armoured strength in the north his smoking barrels slowed them to a near-standstill..

My big heavy metal push could make no real headway..

COMBAT FOOTAGE-railstation

Mangus's halftracks are stopped by MG, note the MG34's tracer, this halftrack actually blew up!
This is worth posting as tactical confirmation that some MG's in CM can make mincemeat of some halftracks..
It took several bursts over a turn or two, but the MG did it eventually.
Incidentally these halftracks were the weak M5 version, whereas the M5A1 with the shield around the gunner last much longer.

Mangus's Stalin struts around making threatening gestures towards the club, so my Hetzer waltzes up and puts two slugs into him and he goes down like a skateboarding faceplanter in a Youtube 'Extreme Accidents' vid without time to shoot back..

Yes mate my army of loyal fans follow me everywhere from club to club wildly applauding my humble efforts and eagerly lapping up my tactical hints, even my devotees Geordie, McIvan, Talvela and Leto have faithfully followed me here on the pilgrims trail, such is my supernatural magnetism..:)

"Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world
Like a Colossus; and we petty men
Walk under his huge legs, and peep about
To find ourselves dishonourable graves."-Shakesp, J.Caesar

When I first joined here I didnt have a clue who you were other than that bloke that got booted from Battlefront for having multiple personalities. I dont think I actually met you (in cyber parlance) until you joined Fragment. Phil aka Pzrtwt has a lot to answer for if I ever meet him......

In fact, when I first joined here I think you were in one of your self inposed exilles as you were in the huff about something or other. I would look it up but apparently the history of this board doesnt go back that far.

Anyway, enough off topic stuff, get back to the excellent perimitert trophy....

Ha ha ha, you and your WaW chums are great jokers mate, everybody knows you all lurv old POS..:)
I mean, despite all your jokey banter about POS's tactical posts and screenshots being "terrible" and "misleading" etc, you're still proudly displaying 78 of them in your WaW Tac forum..:)
I mean, if they're really as bad as you pretend, you'd have deleted them long ago, ha ha ha..:)

Mangus's Red Army stove in the northern sector of the pocket..

Okay I've just created the Perimeter cyber-medal (below), it'll be pinned to each competitors player stats at Blitz (if they're members and if they finish their game) because I only know how to do it there as I'm Tourney Manager with access to the back office coding.
If the Gamesquad or other clubs mods can pin it to your stats in other clubs, go ahead, everybody who signed up for Perimeter is awarded it, win or lose provided they finish the game..;)
(PS- just for the record I include pics of the other 4 medals won by all competitors in my other 4 tourneys over the past year, for example Bert Blitzkrieg entered all 5 and has got all 5 medals in his Blitz stats..:)
(Silver Trophy winners- Guderian won Trident, Der Kuenstler won Malitz, Marshall666 won Pripet, Herroberst won Brits v 21Pz, and Perimeter is still ongoing)

COMBAT FOOTAGE- airfield

As my Russian spearheads stream towards the airfield, Red Devil launches a panzer counterattack and knocks out my SU-100 leader..

The Devil strikes, I can't even detect some of his muzzle blasts..

Now that the tourney is winding down I have some questions regarding the forces etc.

1. What was the force mix that was most likely to win this one, obviously it was a German one, but what combinations proved most decisive.

2. What tactical approach in your opinion lead to the best results overall. Was it the big Tank group or the looser approach?

3. What units did the most damage, infantry, armour or other?

4. Why did the Soviets fair so badly and what in your opinion was the reasons for their disparaging performance?

Seeing as you played in all of the games I think a quick precis with some insights may be a good help for guys that may want to improve their QB force picks for the future as I'm sure there are some excellent learning points in any debrief that you care to give.

Cheers

From a distance, it would seem that the best mix for the Germans was infantry with plenty of shreks and AT gun support, with a bit of a mobile armoured "fire brigade". The Russian armour couldn't win by itself.

As to #1 and #4, players just had to have faith that POS would stick to his preferred force mix and purchase accordingly - as the Germans.

Tripps is in the process of proving that with a different force mix the Russians are very capable of achieving at least a draw. See the live AAR that he is doing in his battle with ER Chaser. ER is using the same units & tactics he did in his Major Victory as Germans against POS in the tourney.

It does not look like POS is supporting this thread any longer... that's too bad, I would have liked to have received that report.

Cheers!

Im beginning to think that POS is simply the screenshot guy, because apart from this aspect hes not really willing or able to give a bit more in depth insights into the games.
