That was one heck of a challenging game POS. You are correct, the academy was the key terrain in our fight. That, and a good bit of luck, killing 5 tanks in one turn is extremely rare.
I took 4 T-34/85s and one SU 152 for armor plus 3 57mm AT guns. Two T-34 survived till the end and two of those guns killed 4 MKIVs between them. Redeploying guns in the middle of a battle is tough but this time it worked. If the game had not gone deep into overtime, the end result would have been very different.

Stndrtnfhr Out!

COMBAT FOOTAGE- hills

My Stalins and 34/85's have been bitterly fighting for every inch of ground for most of the game in the face of fierce resistance by GAZ NZ's German gun-heavy defence. X's mark wrecked guns and tanks. The two ringed 34/85's are about to do a right hook..

They hook around the main line of resistance in an attempt to break the deadlock and take out a Grille that has been shelling my Russian infantry..

Close-up..

COMBAT FOOTAGE- sailing club

Unable to break out of the sector in the face of Waleed's German infantry line in the trees to their front, I order two SU-100's to reverse (purple arrow) to the boathouse flag and safely sit out the remaining few turns.
But shock horror, they reverse straight into a German squad who somehow infiltrated from behind, he can hardly believe his luck and gleefully hurls a grenade bundle (visible in midair)
Inset- one is wrecked.

2054172 (Ger) wins Tactical Victory

My Russians made two thrusts, both of which met with only limited success..

I was much too cautious here in the coastal village sector, inching through the streets at snails pace demolishing it house by house, expecting a German armoured counterattack to come in any minute, but 205 fooled me by attacking in the forest instead.
(X= destroyed gun. The T-34 at bottom bogged and immobilised in the shallows)

Major Battle in the Forest.
At first my Russian infantry met with only token resistance (x's=destroyed German units) and swept confidently through the flag outpost with their jubilant eyes set firmly upon the rich prize of the airfield in background..

Heavy contact! The Russians encounter 205's main line of resistance and are stopped in their tracks as a hail of lead rips through the trees shredding the foliage and upsetting nesting birds..

1- A schreck opens up on my T-34/85 and armoured car, while at the same time the ominous sound of approaching tank engines is heard at 2 (it turned out to be a Panther).
3- I reverse my T-34 and car away from the schreck.
4- I pull my men back to defend the flag outpost while telling them- "sorry boys, we just lost the airfield".
5- This Russian group are pinned by heavy small-arms and MG fire from across the clearing and I'm unable to extricate them..

The endgame screen; despite all my efforts the flag stays neutral..

Endgame view from the German side with arrows indicating 205's main counterattack thrusts that ended Russian hopes of conquest and guaranteed him a triumphant victory in this, his 200th Gamesquad game..

An endgame shot with trees toggled on to give an idea of the claustrophobic nature of forest battles..

Waleed (Ger) wins Tactical Victory

A series of sharp tank engagements took the cutting edge off my two armour groups, making further inroads into the pocket impossible..

The railstation was the end of the line for Russian hopes of any further advance..

With the trees to their front thick with German infantry, my Russian armour was penned in the sailing club sector..

POS (Russ) gets minor vic against Mugger2006

Mugger took a gun-heavy defence and inflicted severe early damage on my Russian armour, so after that I took things cautious and inched slowly to several objectives to scrape a minor win..

These 3 guns beat off my Russian assault on the hills outpost..

POS How many battle sleft to go?
These 7 are left mate-

Bert Blitzkrieg
GAZ NZ
Mangus
Red Devil
Okimaw
Proniakin
Willard

(Mind you Okimaw, Proniakin and Willard vanished weeks ago and I've not heard a peep from 'em since)

PS- M Dorosh challenged me to a Perimeter mirror rematch (not for the trophy, just for the ladder) and I accepted and sent him the first file and am waiting to hear back from him.
Anybody else fancy a mirror rematch?)

Thanks

I've decided not to go ahead with the rematch since you indicated you were going to use the score on the ongoing ladder, which wasn't my intent. I understood the rationale about not having the score of the rematch eligible for the contest, which was also not my intent.

Also, I'm off on vacation tomorrow for a few days so my time is limited. And, now that the next tournament has been announced, if I'm considered eligible to participate in that one, our time is probably better spent doing that rather than rehashing this fight for the 17th time. Unless there is something really important at stake or any great reason for doing so that I am unaware of; I was curious to see how a conventional German setup might do, but not really all that curious and I think my question would be well answered by the Green Light parameters you've proposed.

Bert Blitzkrieg's Russians overun the outpost.
An earlier violent tank action left 2x Hetzers, 3x T-34/85's and a couple of halftracks dead (X's),and as Russian infantry begins closing in I reverse my last Hetzer to safety, reluctantly leaving the final surviving squad of the German garrison to his fate..

As the reversing Hetzer calls it a day, the Russians storm the position with a Company Commander leading from the front..
