Passengers in Abandoned HT

Hello, i have a question about a situation in one of my games.
An HT (250/1) in BU status with a HS and a Ldr inside take a shot in his MPh resulting in a Immobilization. The crew doesnt pass the TC and goes outside the HT. May the Passengers go CE in the next APh?

Pretty sure they can. Per D5.33 they usually share the CE/BU status of the crew, but since the crew is no longer around.

In 5.33 I read that "An AFV's crew and Passengers always become CE or BU together" that should mean that must be together to change status not only that they share the status.
For 5.4 i read that "Place an Abandoned counter on the vehicle to indicate that it may not move or fire and is subject to capture." Always in 5.33 "Such placement/removal of a vehicle CE counter .............. does not constitute movement for purposes of moving target/firer penalties."
So it seems that CE counter placement is a movement issue, NA in Abandoned AFV.

I wouldn't play that way, ymmv. And placing a CE/BU counters in the APh can't be a "movement issue", since vehicles can't move in the APh.
