if you have an AFV with a functioning MA and cmg of 2 and bmg of 4. what's the FP for that attack?

base is 4 which is tripled to 12 and divided by 2 to 6. then the mgs are halved to 3. so, is it 9 FPs?

that doesn't seem to work out according to the flowchart. wouldn't it be 6 divided by 2 for 3 times 3 to 9 divided by 2 to 4.5 and added to the base of 4 for a total of 8.5?

No,...the base mg FP is tripled for being in the same hex (6 x 3 = 18) then halved for moving, reducing the FP to 9. The MA (non-MG/IFT) adds further 4 FP for a total of 13 FP (IIFT) or 12 on the IFT.

Don't confuse a bounding fire (or motion fire) shot that would 1/4 the mg FP. An overrun is a different animal.

Sorry, but I do not have my ASLRB or charts with me or I would walk you (and myself) through this. :)

The OVR flowchart says (after having stripped away everything NA to the current situation):

4 + 3/2 x [Usable MG]

So its indeed 4 + 3/2 x 6 = 13 FP.

not "4 + 3/2 x [Usable MG]"

so, wouldn't you figure with a MA base 4 and cmg of 2 and bmg of 4 or MGs totalling 6 as follows?

4 + 3/2 x [6 + 1/2]

4 + 3/2 x [3]

4 + 4.5

9.5 as a final

do you see why i'm confused!!!!

No, if giving the complete bracket containment, it says:

4 + 3/2 x
[Usable MG (not RMG) + IFE + Passengers of CE armored HT +
1/2 x (Riders + non-BU Passengers not in armored HT]

So what this means (added backwards to make it clearer), is that you:

1) add all Rider and non-BU Passengers not in armored HT FP
2) divide by 2
3) add all usebale MG + IFE + CE HT passenger FP
4) multiply by 3/2
5) add 4.

In the current situation, step 1) and thus step 2) is ignored, so you'll take 6, multiply by 3/2 and then add 4, for a total of 13.

You're multiplying when you should be adding....if that is what the flowchart says (no flowchart handy)

It should be

4 + 3/2 x [6 + 1/2] (Does the Flowchart really have a + 1/2?,...why? Have to get some of what Tuomo was smokin')

4 + 3/2 x [6.5]

4 + 9.75

13.75 = 12 on the One True Table as a final OVR FP

Jazz, you are correct about adding instead of multiplying, but as you probably have understood by now from my response, what you should have added was not 1/2, but 1/2 * (FP of Riders + non-BU non-HT Passengers), which is zero for the OVR in question.

Yup, that would explain the 1/2, and make sense all at the same time....
