Re: The Orsha Plain

A: Yes, as per the ASLRB there is nothing to preclude you from doing this, though you'd be better off not doing it since you can save the trench for another/better location. Per B27.6 you could move directly from the gully to the trench without coming out of the gully first and then entering the trench.
The problem with using the gullies is that a gully is open ground for OBA and attacks by aircraft. My current opponent has placed several fox hole in gullies. (A trench would be better in that you can move into / out without exposing yourself outside the foxhole)

Thanks for the replies.

The Orsha Plain came down to the last turn with the Russians exiting enough EVP but fell short one pillbox. The Germans were all but wiped out but I couldn't get into that last empty pillbox I needed because of some wire, despite trying to use a bangalore DC and a vehicle bog DR to remove it on the last Russian MPh.

Great scenario.

Re: The Orsha Plain

Hello,

Just finished the first scenario of our OtO campaign. Looking at purchasing reinforcements, and after the first scenario the full / depleted DR applies. On page 11 (or 11B if you have the replacement pages) the RG Strength Table (8.621) shows a DRM "+/- Friendly".

1. What does this mean? I didn't find an explanation in the text.
2. I assume infantry weapons / leaders can setup with any units now?
3. Can I "move" an armor leader from one tank to another during refit? (to a different type of tank - so a different platoon as well.)

BTW, I lost, only accumulating 4 VP instead of the 5 I needed. If the sceanrio hadn't ended at turn 5 I think I would have won. <sigh>

Looking forward to more in the next CG scenario. :)

Sam,
#1, Its kind of confusing, but what it is saying applies to both lines and is meant to say "+/- Friendly Historical DRM" for both, the modifier of which is found in 9.6161 and could be + or - for the side in question.
#2, yes, non-isolated retained infantry weapons and leaders may redistribute. Leaders and weapons in isolated locations have to stay in those locations.
#3 Yes, again for non-isolated, retained units (exc: 9.6131a)

Re: The Orsha Plain

Hi,

#3 wasn't about immoble or abandonded vehicles. I have mobile, retained, non-isolated vehicles. One of the flame throwing tanks (one of the KV's with a 45L gun) has a very good Armor Leader. Of course, he's not worth much in a vehicle whose "real" main armament is a Flame Thrower... Can I move him to another platoon - a T-34 or other tank with a 76L?

8.72 seems to say I cannot.

Thanks

Yep, he's going to have to remain a part of that AFV platoon.
