The tallness of the Stuart turrets allowed the Soviet crews to get through the shallow water safely. Once ashore, the German artillery and 88s took out numerous Stuarts. The Axis allies throughout the campaign remained on the high ground. The campaign as a whole was a disaster: 22,000 dead and wounded. Tim
